FLUX Pumps for the Cosmetic sector and personal care

Cosmetic

In the world of commodities, every detail is crucial when it comes to a well-groomed appearance. That is why cosmetic products in particular are available in every shade. At FLUX, we make sure that the usually costly media are always precisely filled, decanted, and metered.

In order to carefully transfer pastes, gels, Vaseline or high-viscosity cosmetics such as mascara at a constant volume and fill or decant them into a variety of containers, we rely on FLUX pumps, which do exactly what they should and reliably deliver what our customers expect: exceptional filling results and consistent quality.

Transfer of peeling cream for filling

Task:
A wide variety of facial and body peeling creams are to be transferred from drums and mixing containers to the filling process.

Solution:
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 GS
Three-phase motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Prior to the use of the FLUX eccentric worm-drive pump, the various facial and body peeling creams were transferred by hand into the supply containers for the filling machines. This proved to be not only be time-consuming but also unhygienic. Now the FLUX F 560 GS eccentric worm-drive pump in the gear unit version has taken over this transferring path.

The material is pumped out of drums and mixing containers that are placed alongside the filling systems. Low rotational speeds ensure very gentle pumping. Shearing is very low – as is the case for FLUX eccentric worm-drive pumps in general – and therefore there is no danger that the consistency of the peeling cream will change. The levels of the supply containers are monitored, i.e. the eccentric worm-drive pumps are switched on and off as needed. All in all, the filling process runs much quicker – with significant time savings for the customer.

Transferring shampoo raw materials

Task:
A wide variety of shampoo raw materials are to be filled from 55 gal plastic drums into a mixing tub – previously this has been done manually. A simple and, most importantly, time-saving solution was sought.

Solution:
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 GS
Commutator motor F 458
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
A mid-size firm producing high-quality cosmetics (natural cosmetics) had been filling its raw materials manually, for example by dumping them out of drums. This proved to be very inconvenient and above all time-consuming; therefore the FLUX F 560 GS FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump in the gear unit version is now used for these media.

This pump is ideally suited for this, because it can be flexibly and easily used. Removal from the 55 gal drums is problem free. The raw material for shampoo and for creams can be quickly filled into the mixing tub, where the final product is produced. Then the finished product is metered into consumer bottles in a filling line and packaged.

Filling high-viscosity, but still liquid soap

Task:
Filling of high-viscosity, but still liquid soap, and the raw materials for its production, e.g. glycerin, from IBCs into various production containers. Most of these media are extremely foamy.

Solution:
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 GS
Commutator motor F 458
Flow meter FMO
Evaluation unit FLUXTRONIC®
Switched-mode amplifier
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:

Our eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 GS in the gear unit version is ideal for rapidly and securely filling this soap. It is available in various hygienic designs, e.g. with 3A and FOOD certification.

The compact F 560 GS model with gear can be used easily by operating personnel and is safe to use. A commutator motor is used as the drive here.  Alternatively, if the container (e.g. IBC) is only accessible via the bottom port, a base plate mounted version or a version mounted on a portable cart can also be used there.

Our eccentric worm-drive pumps ensure gentle, pulsation-free pumping with extremely low shear forces. In this case, this will also avoid extreme foam formation. Removal is possible even if a more solid portion has already formed on the bottom of the tank due to storage.

Our FMO series flow meter with FLUXTRONIC® evaluation electronic can also be fitted to our F 560 GS eccentric worm-drive pumps. This enables the F 560 GS to be upgraded to a semi-automated filling system. This is particularly recommended where the same quantities require filling several times consecutively.

Filling Vaseline from 55 gallon drums into batching tanks

Task:
High-viscosity Vaseline requires dispensing from a 55 gal drum into a batching tank via a heated pipeline.

Solution:
Drum emptying system VISCOFLUX mobile S
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 S
Spur gear motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
High-viscosity Vaseline needs to be removed from a 55 gal drum and fed into a batching tank. Since the conveyor section, with its 30 foot DN 40 pipeline and 13 foot hose is relatively long here, the pipe will also be heated. This reduces the viscosity, keeping the pipeline counter-pressure within the limits. The portable and mobile VISCOFLUX mobile S drum emptying system for high-viscosity, non-free-flowing to pasty media, combined with our F 560 S eccentric worm-drive pump is the perfect solution here for hygiene requirements.

The VISCOFLUX mobile S drum emptying system is driven up to and placed on the drum and then filling can begin. At the end of the 30 foot pipeline with its 13 foot hose, an employee measures the Vaseline out into the batching tank which stands on scales. Once the desired volume is reached, the employee closes a ball valve. The rising pressure is monitored with a pressure switch and the eccentric worm-drive pump is switched off if necessary. The pump starts again when the ball valve is reopened. The cut-out/cut-in pressure can be preset in accordance with the process parameters.

The speed can be controlled easily using the spur gear motor. This means that the speed can be changed on the fly in the event of changes in the viscosity (summer/winter).

Filling of various essential oils, perfume oils, fragrancing agents and essences

Task:
Various basic cosmetic ingredients, such as oils, fragrances and other essences, require filling from 55 gal drums. The pump must be certified (hygiene approval, e.g. FOOD certification) and must be suitable for use in areas subject to explosion hazards.

Solution:
Drum pump F 430 S with mechanical seal
Commutator motor F 460 Ex
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Using the FLUX FP 430 S drum pump with FOOD and Ex certification, the media in question can be filled quickly and easily.

The FP 430 is made from extremely high quality stainless steel and can be used for a wide variety of liquids. Even frequent changes of medium are no problem since the pump can be cleaned in no time. It can be dismantled into two parts without any special tools and in just a few easy steps meaning that all areas in contact with the medium are easily accessible. A mechanical seal keeps the separate shaft guide tube closed, preventing the medium from penetrating the tube.

Different liquids can be filled easily and on the go from various drums without difficulty.

Decanting of various perfume oils into mixing systems

Task:
A wide variety of perfume oils require decanting into a mixing system from a 55 gal standard drum with a drum pump.

Customer's requirement's:
- Easy to clean
- Portable

Solution:
Drum pump FP 430 S with mechanical seal
Commutator motor F 460 Ex
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The FLUX F 430 S drum pump with FOOD and Ex certification is recommended as the ideal solution for quick and easy decanting of a wide variety of perfume oils.

The FP 430 S drum pump, made from high-quality stainless steel, can be used for a multitude of different liquids. Even with frequent medium changes, it is quick and easy to clean.

The drum pump can be dismantled into two parts without any tools meaning that all areas in contact with the medium are easily accessible. Since the separate shaft guide tube is closed with a mechanical seal, no medium is able to penetrate it. This means that the same drum pump can be used again and again with different media.

The operator responsible carries the drum pump to the point of use, puts it in place and it can then be operated straight away. This allows various perfume oils to be filled from different drums easily, in multiple locations and with minimum effort. The fill quantity is controlled via scales.

Filling of ethanol

Task:
Ethanol requires filling from IBCs and 55 gal drums into smaller containers without any loss and with quantity measurement.

Customer's requirement:

- No residue
- Quantity measurement

Solution:
Drum pump F 425 S for 99.98% drum emptying
Commutator motor F 460 Ex
Flow meter FMC 100
Chemical hose with hose sleeves
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The FLUX F/FP 425 drum pump in stainless steel and with explosion protection certification for flammable liquids is the perfect solution for drum emptying with minimal residues.

When filling from 55 gal drums, the F/FP 425 drum pump makes residues of less than 0.01 gal possible. Furthermore, the non-return device on the drum pump prevents the medium from flowing back into the emptied drum. This enables optimum use of the product which means that FLUX can guarantee a reduction in drum cleaning and waste disposal costs.

Removing the liquid is simple: The drum pump is placed in the relevant IBCs.

Using our FMC flow meter with FLUXTRONIC® evaluation electronics, the desired quantity can then be securely and accurately metered into small containers.

Combined with a switched-mode amplifier, the fill quantity can be predefined and filling can be done automatically at the touch of a button. Once the specified fill quantity is reached, the drum pump stops automatically and the filling process can start again.
