Filling high-viscosity glucose syrup from IBCs

Task:
High-viscosity glucose syrup is to be filled into a wide variety of different batching tanks. The removal process with gravity-based outflow is very difficult but can be made much easier with a FLUX pump.

Solution:
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 S
Spur gear drive motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The high-viscosity glucose syrup can be transferred out of the IBCs with the FLUX F 560 S FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump for the food field. A spur gear motor is optimal for specific requirements, because the speed can be flexibly adapted with respect to temperature and viscosity. Thanks to the F 560 S FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump from FLUX, the filling process is now shortened from 120 minutes with gravity outflow to just 45 minutes.

Metering juice concentrates

Task:
Various juice concentrates are to be metered out of different lidded drums with inliners into a batching tank.

Solution:
Drum pump FP 427 FOOD
Commutator motor F 458-1
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Drums had previously been tipped into the batching container by a forklift, or the IBCs were lifted and the concentrates metered through the outlet. This not only led to frequent spills of the base material – the procedure was also problematic for hygienic reasons. With the FP 427 drum pump for hygienic applications, the juice concentrates can be metered out of the drums and IBCs with almost no loss of medium. Filling with the FP 427 drum pump is fast and easy.

The user places the drum or the IBC alongside the batching tank, inserts the drum pump and switches it on. Metering runs very easily with the butterfly valve at the end of the hose. Once the desired amount has been filled, the valve is first closed and then the pump is switched off.

Filling tomato concentrate

Task:
Tomato concentrate is frequently used in the food industry. It is generally multiply concentrated – packed in conical drums with inliners. From there it is to be filled into a wide variety of different containers or batching tanks. A FOOD/FDA certification is required.

Solution:
Drum emptying system VISCOFLUX mobile S
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 S
Spur gear drive motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The highly concentrated tomato concentrate is in drums which are delivered on pallets of 4 drums. The VISCOFLUX mobile S mobile drum emptying system can be moved up to the four-drum pallets thanks to its flexible chassis adjustment, so that all 4 drums can be emptied one after another without problems.

VISCOFLUX mobile S is a complete system consisting of a process device, a pump unit with a motor and an eccentric worm-drive pump – in this case the F 560 S FOOD – and a follower plate with a process seal. The tomato concentrate is removed in several steps:

Step 1. The pump unit is lowered with the battery-powered lift arm until the follower plate rests on the medium.

Step 2. After the motor starts, the eccentric worm-drive pump begins to apply suction. The negative pressure arising ensures that the follower plate always rests on the medium, even during removal of the medium. The lift arm and the drive are decoupled in the process by the automatic free-wheel mechanism.

The process seal reliably closes off the medium hermetically even if the transfer process is interrupted. It is so flexible that it adapts to beads and any transport dents that may be present. This way almost no medium remains on the drum wall or the inliner.

Step 3. When the drum has been pumped empty, the follower plate is detached from the bottom of the drum by compressed air and the pump unit is moved back upward. The residual quantity in the drum is less than 1%.

Step 4. Cleaning: The system has an IP rating of 66 and can be easily cleaned with a powerful water jet.

Mixing and pumping low viscosity oils in the food industry

Task:
Low viscosity oils are to be mixed and filled from various IBCs.

Customer's requirements:
- FDA-compliant parts and materials for the food industry

Solution:
MINIFLUX
Compressed air motor F 416
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Our MINIFLUX, which was specially designed for fitting on the bottom outflow of IBCs, is perfect for this. It can also be used with IBCs that are not accessible from the top, for example due to being stacked.

In this scenario, the MINIFLUX will be fitted to the IBC with a riser in which the 3-way valve is integrated. Pumping can be done in a circular motion to help the built-in agitator and the medium can be filled into a storage container after the homogeneous mixing. The mixing and the pumping, are requirements in many processes and our custom design allows this to be done in the best possible way in each instance.

Filling honey into jars for sale

Task:
High quality honey to be filled from drums into various jars. Since this is high quality honey, any residue left in the drums must be kept to a minimum. Previously, the drums were emptied by hand and scraped out which took a lot of time and was unhygienic.

Solution:
Drum emptying system VISCOFLUX mobile S
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 S
Spur gear motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The honey drums in question are stored on pallets which our VISCOFLUX mobile S drum emptying system can easily access from all sides. The FLUX drum emptying system combined with our F 560 S FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump is ideal for the high viscosity honey. The follower plate, which hermetically seals the honey, cleanly skims the drum wall meaning residues of less than 1% are left behind in the drum.

Virtually no shear forces occur during pumping with our F 560 S eccentric worm-drive pump, meaning the filling process is very gentle. The introduction of air is prevented which means that the honey remains clear. Many users report that the honey tastes even "creamier than before" as a result of the pumping.

Filling of high-viscosity peanut butter

Task:
High-viscosity peanut butter requires transferring from 55 gal drums into an existing pipeline system. The pipeline is approximately 16 feet long and takes the peanut butter directly to the processing plant or a supply container.

A simple, quick and cost-effective alternative to the previous manual filling was sought, complete with FOOD certification.

Solution:
Drum emptying system VISCOFLUX
Eccentric worm-drive pump F 560 TR
Spur gear drive motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Our VISCOFLUX drum-emptying system, the FLUX specialist for high-viscosity media, is the perfect solution for this application. The VISCOFLUX drum-emptying system is used to transfer high-viscosity, paste-like media that don't flow freely, such as peanut butter, quickly and cost effectively.

The VISCOFLUX drum-emptying system is attached to the drum using a clamping ring, that way the system and the drum form a secure unit.  The follower plate placed over the peanut butter hermetically seals the drum wall with the sealing lip. When extracting the medium with our F 560 TR eccentric worm-drive pump with FOOD certificate, the resulting vacuum ensures that the follower plate repositions itself.

This means that the drum wall is stripped clean leaving behind a residue of less than 1% only once the drum has been emptied. This eliminates the need for the time-consuming manual removal of residue, thereby saving on time and cost.

Another advantage of our VISCOFLUX drum-emptying system:

Our various eccentric worm-drive pumps and different drive motors can be combined in different ways to ensure our systems always perfectly tailored to the medium to be pumped.

Three-phase motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The F 560 S eccentric worm-drive pump for the food industry offers the perfect solution for high-viscosity media such as dough, jam or even chocolate.

The dough is produced in 440 lbs portions and is conveyed to the baking machine in a movable drum. A F 560 S FOOD eccentric worm-drive pump with bearing flange and three-phase motor is inserted into the drum here and the dough is pumped out.

Eccentric worm-drive pumps are suitable for mobile use, are easily disassembled for cleaning, and are certified for contact with foodstuffs in accordance with EU Regulation 1935/2004 and FDA CFR 21. The pulsation-free decanting of high-viscosity media is also possible without major shear forces or heating.

Filling of salad dressing

Task:
Salad dressing requires filling with a pump from a mixing container into a small sample container. Previously this was done manually, in other words by "tipping".

Customer's requirement:
- FOOD certificate
- Quick and easy to clean
- Portable

Solution:
Drum pump FP 427 S FOOD for hygiene applications
Commutator motorF 457
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The salad dressing is made from rapeseed oil and vinegar in an open mixing container with a capacity of approx. 16 gal.

Decanting from the mixing container into a small sample container, which is in an elevated position, is performed using the FLUX FP 427 drum pump and using an external fill level sensor control. The product is then filled in the 0.1 gal retail pack with the pack filling machine.

To ensure high and consistent filling accuracy, the fill level in the elevated sample container must be kept relatively constant, in other words fluctuations in level must be minimized wherever possible.

The use of a certified FOOD drum pump was important to the company because the production is regularly subject to FIS inspection. For hygienic reasons the drum pump will be dismantled and cleaned with superheated steam after each filling process.

Our FP 427 drum pump is best suited to hygiene applications like this scenario. The reason is it is designed so that it can be fully dismantled and cleaned in just a few steps and with barely any tools.

Spur gear motor
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
FLUX eccentric worm-drive pumps from the F 560 S series with a bearing flange are ideal for high-viscosity and sticky media, including glucose. The positive displacement pumps work with low turbulence and under constant pressure to ensure gentle, pulsation-free pumping.

For cleaning, which needs done frequently in the food sector, the pump can be disassembled in just a few steps.

The mixing container to be filled is on scales. Once the desired fill quantity is reached, the operator can simply turn off the pump. The spur gear motor makes it possible to adjust the speed precisely to the best option for the medium's temperature.

By using our F 560 S eccentric worm-drive pump, it was possible to speed up the filling process for 650 lbs of glucose significantly: from 90 minutes to just 45 minutes.
