FLUX Pumps for the Petrochemistry sector

Petrochemistry

Whether it is kerosene or turpentine, petroleum or propanol, AdBlue® or other additives: petrochemical products are not only expensive to process, they also place special demands on the filling, decanting, or metering process. At FLUX, we know exactly how valuable energy sources can be metered and filled in a resource-saving, flexible and, above all, economical way.

Giveaways are expensive, and underfilling is too! Whoever wants to rigorously avoid giving away media will find a fantastic partner in FLUX, who can ensure lasting top performance thanks to the highest level of precision.

Application descriptions

Pumping of additives in the petroleum industry

Task:
A variety of additives in the petroleum industry have to be added from drums, e.g. to protect machinery parts or to separate water from crude oil. The pumps have to be suitable for explosion-proof areas and for temperatures of up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Solution:
Drum pump FP 424 S Ex (HT) sealless
Drum pump FP 425 S Ex (HT) for 99.98% Drum emptying
Commutator motor F 460 Ex (HT)
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Our HT (High Temperature) versions are ideal for these applications in ambient temperatures and explosion-proof areas of up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

Our F/FP 424 Ex and F/FP 425 Ex S (HT) drum pumps for low viscosity media are used together with the F 460 Ex (HT) commutator motors to extract the additives from the drums.

Our F/FP 424 drum pumps have no seals in contact with the liquid and offer the benefit of no wear to seals and optimum drainage of the inner tube.

The F/FP 425 drum pumps are suitable for 99.98% drum drainage and removal of residual liquid. This means that less than 0.01 gal of residue remains in a 55 gal drum. The built-in non-return device prevents the medium from flowing back into an emptied drum. This eliminates the need for drum cleaning and disposal costs.

Refuelling of lorries with diesel

Task:
Lorries require refueling from a 525 gal diesel tank, situated outside under a canopy. At the same time, the risks associated with heat exposure and the amount of labor required must be minimized.

Solution:
Drum pump F/FP 430 S Ex with mechanical seal
Commutator motor F 460 Ex
Mineral oil hose DN 25
Pump nozzle
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
The FLUX F/FP 430 S Ex drum pump is ideal for reliably pumping various low-viscosity and highly flammable fluids such as diesel. The drum pump is lightweight and portable, and can be positioned directly inside the 525 gal diesel tank. It can also be quickly disassembled without any special tools for cleaning. Immersion depths of up to 118 inches are possible.

Before the drum pump solution, refueling was done manually using 5 gal canisters. Investing in a FLUX drum pump produces two benefits in one: The risk of accident is lowered and the burden on the employees responsible is significantly reduced since they no longer have to refill the heavy canisters using physical force.

Filling of precise quantities of various petroleum products and fuels

Task:
Precise quantities of various petroleum products and fuels require filling into vehicle tanks using a flow meter. Emissions must be avoided during this process.

Solution:
Drum pump F 430 S Ex with mechanical seal
Commutator motor F 460 Ex
Flow meter FMC 100 Ex
Evaluation electronics FLUXTRONIC®
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
FLUX drum pumps are the best solution for this requirement since they are perfect for low-viscosity and highly flammable media such as petroleum and other fuels. Their lightweight construction means they can easily be carried from container to container. The simple operation of motor and pump ensures short changeover times.

In this scenario, our F 430 S Ex drum pump was used. It features a mechanical seal and the FMC 100 Ex flow meter for highly flammable media in areas subject to explosion hazards. The F/FP 430 with mechanical seal prevents the medium from being displaced meaning the drum pump can even be used where different media require filling one after another. It can also be disassembled into two main components quickly and easily for cleaning.

The FMC 100 flow meter and FLUXTRONIC® evaluation electronics ensure the accurate and safe filling of the media.

Filling of various oils

Task:
Various oils with a maximum viscosity of 800 cPs require decanting from different tanks to smaller containers.

Solution:
Drum pump F 430 Al with mechanical seal
Commutator motor FEM 4070
For the application designed accessories on request

Application description:
Low-viscosity media of up to 800 cPs can be pumped with minimal effort by the FLUX F 430 drum pump with a mechanical seal. In this pump type, the shaft is fitted in a separate pipe with permanent lubrication and a mechanical seal closes around the medium.

In particular, our aluminium F 430 drum pumps are ideal for oils. The lightweight design makes the pumps mobile and easy to implement from one tank to the next.

The F 430 drum pump with mechanical seal is easy to disassemble for quick cleaning.  Immersion depths of up to 118 inches are also possible.
